5 days TyrOL Stage 01 city sprint in Steinach am Brenner
Among the almost 1400 competitors from 34 nations also the who is who of the worldwide orienteering community entered the race. So the freshly “baked“ double European youth champion Eliane Deininger from Switzerland and the 10 times world champion Tove Alexandersson from Sweden.
The races started at exactly 5 o’clock p.m. on Monday with the first stage. The competitors had to challenge fast courses through the local area of Steinach.
Tove Alexandersson (SWE) won the elite women class. Anna Nilsson Simkovic (AUT) from OLC Wienerwald got second. Krystal Norman (AUS) won third place.
The men’s elite class was won by Martin Regborn (SWE) before William Lind (SWE) and Martin Bostrom(FIN).
The Tyrolian competitors showed good performance. Several runners could reach a position among the Top 20. Lena Ennemoser got even second in the W16 class.
“You can consider it as a warm up for the following days with a slight elevation gain in a varied and imposing mountain area of the “Stubaier Alpen”, David Hechl, one of the control setters, states.
